Abdulrhman (Abdul) AlRaqadi is an athlete from Special Olympics Oman in the Middle East North Africa Region. Abdul participates in tennis. He has been involved in Special Olympics since 2015.
Abdul’s favorite part about Special Olympics is when he volunteers and helps others.
Abdul is excited for the congress in Berlin. He is looking forward to seeing the events and activities that will be held at the conference. Abdul is also excited to share the ideas and experiences he made in the Omani Special Olympics with his colleagues.
When Abdul isn’t competing, he enjoys tennis, digital design, reading the Noble Qur’an, and wearing traditional clothes.
Abdul says that being an athlete leader means being a good example to all, leader in tennis, and to work together with everyone.
Project Description
Abdul’s grant plan is to train 8 to 10 athletes to be assistant coaches of 3 different sports (tennis, bowling, and equestrian). The athletes will be selected based on their skills in the sports. The training will be unified and include athlete leaders and youth without Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) interested in that specific sport. As a result of this training, the athletes will have meaningful leadership roles and can help the integration of people with and without IDD in the community.
