Malvin was born with a learning disability and joined Special Olympics in 2013 after participating in an Athlete Leadership Program at his school. Malvin became an advocate for his fellow peers as they were often discriminated against and excluded from school programming. It was then that he learned about self-advocacy and became a voice for the voiceless, advocating for the involvement of Athletes with ID at his school and community. Malvin was in denial of his disability, but after engaging with Special Olympics, he is now able to speak openly about his disability. Malvin plays tennis, basketball, and is an ICT assistant at the Special Olympics Zimbabwe National office. Additionally, Malvin is the Vice Chairperson of the Special Olympics Zimbabwe Athlete Input Council, is a Special Olympics Zimbabwe Health Messenger, and a Global Unified Youth Leadership Council Member representing the Africa Region. Outside of Special Olympics, Malvin is an outgoing Leo President for Redcliff Omegas.
"Special Olympics has built my confidence and has equipped me with knowledge and skills to further advocate for my peers. I wish to spread the word of Inclusion in my community, country, and beyond to break barriers and stigma. Bringing inclusion and creating opportunities for people like me is my goal."
