Michael Lofink is an athlete from Special Olympics Germany in the Europe Eurasia Region. Michael participates in cycling. He has been involved in Special Olympics since the National Games in Karlsruhe in 2008.
Michael’s favorite part about Special Olympics is that he can support the athletes and stand up for the weaker ones.
Michael is excited for the congress in Berlin. He is looking forward to exchanging with athletes from other nations.
Michael is employed full time as a cook and pastry chef in the first labor market. When Michael isn’t working or competing, he enjoys cycling and playing the guitar.
Michael says that being an athlete leader is a matter of the heart for him because it allows him to represent the athletes and to strengthen them and put them more in the spotlight.
Project Description
Michael’s grant plan is to connect athlete speakers and “Teilhabe-Beratende” (participation advisors), TB. The athlete leaders’ role is to help other athletes and the TBs support their community on the way to more inclusion. As they network with each other they can talk about their tasks and challenges. This will be a great opportunity for both groups to learn from and support each other. The athlete speakers and TB will also be able to expand their skills and further develop their know-how with different target groups.
